Interfaith, Spirituality, and Whole-Person Care
Overview
The Interfaith, Spirituality, and Whole-Person Care Program provides individual therapy for clients of all ages who want their spiritual, religious, or existential life to be part of their healing. Whether a client is rooted in a faith tradition, exploring more than one, identifies as spiritual but not religious, or is working through doubt, loss of faith, or spiritual harm, our clinicians meet each person where they are, without agenda or judgment.
Using evidence-based practices, mindfulness, expressive arts, and a trauma-informed approach, clinicians help clients draw on meaning, values, and spiritual practices as sources of resilience. Together they explore grief, life transitions, moral and spiritual distress, and questions of purpose and identity, and they build coping strategies that fit the client's own beliefs.
The program attends to the whole person (mental, emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual) and is integrated with care for any co-occurring mental health conditions. The Christian Counseling Group is available to those seeking Christian-specific counseling.
Who It's For
This program is for clients of all ages and all faith backgrounds, including those with none, who want spirituality, meaning, or values to be part of their healing. It welcomes:
- People rooted in a faith tradition
- Those exploring or questioning
- Those healing from spiritual or religious harm
What to Expect
The program begins with a conversation about each client's spiritual story: what they believe, what sustains them, and where faith or meaning has been a source of strength or of pain.
From there, client and clinician work together on the concerns that brought them in, using practices that fit the client's beliefs, such as prayer, meditation, ritual, reflection, or creative expression, as tools for coping and healing.
Over time, clients build a personal toolkit of spiritual and practical resources they can carry into daily life, with a clearer sense of what gives their life meaning and direction.

Meet the Team
Join the Interfaith, Spirituality, and Whole-Person Care Program
Clinicians who join this program will be supported as they bring spiritual awareness into their clinical work with skill and confidence. Pillars of Wellness offers:
- Continuing education. Ongoing CE trainings on spiritual and religious cultural competency, including specialized training on working with religious trauma.
- Consultation and community. Regular case consultation with colleagues who share an interest in spirituality and whole-person care, so no one does this work alone. Monthly supervision meetings will be made available, or one-on-one by request.
- A growing referral network. Connections with employee assistance programs, hospital chaplaincy step-down referrals, and first responder communities, offering opportunities to serve populations seeking care that honors their whole selves.
- Specialized focus areas. Opportunities to work with children and teens, spiritual-but-not-religious clients, people healing from religious harm, and trauma survivors, with mindfulness programming alongside individual therapy.
- An inclusive framework. This program welcomes clients and clinicians of every faith tradition and none. It is separate from Pillars' Christian Counseling Group and does not center any single religious perspective.
- No particular faith background is required. What matters is curiosity, respect for each client's beliefs, and a commitment to ethical, client-centered care.
