Post-Doctoral Clinical Psychology Resident in School-Based Therapy Program (Full-time)

As a part of the school-based program track, you will have the opportunity to provide therapy to school-aged youth (elementary through middle school) in the school setting. Your work with students in the school setting will also include conducting intakes and communicating with parents. Depending on school need, the opportunity to provide therapy groups may be available, if interested. As a postdoc resident you will receive weekly individual supervision, biweekly agency-wide group supervision, and monthly staff meetings. 

Start date: Fall 2023

Responsibilities

• Reporting to our Coordinator of School-Based Services, the School-Based Post-Doctoral Resident is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating clients experiencing mental health and psychological distress within the school setting.

• Maintaining a full caseload of school-based clients 

• Conducting intakes with school-based clients and their parents 

• Providing evidence-based mental health counseling and psychotherapy to students.

• Identifying culturally appropriate treatment to meet students' experiences and individual needs.

• Consulting with the school’s social worker(s), as appropriate, to ensure effective treatment for students.

• Working with students and parents to set SMART goals and develop individualized treatment plans.

• Giving students adequate resources to gain insight through a strength-based approach to treatment. 

• Identifying social, emotional, and cultural barriers that may inhibit a student's psychological well-being. 

• Referring students to appropriate external health professionals, as appropriate.

• Supporting students and/or parents in identifying additional resources in their local or online communities such as social services and support groups.

• Provide didactic presentations to all staff on a topic of interest and/or participate in CEU training with independently licensed clinicians

Qualifications

Ideal candidates meet the following qualifications:

• Completion of a PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited Doctoral Program
• Completion of an APPIC-member Doctoral Internship
• Experience or interest in working with children and adolescents
• National Provider Identifier NPI number
• Completed Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare CAQH application
• Individual professional malpractice liability insurance policy ($1mil/$3mil)
