Kristyn Swanson is a graduate of Valparaiso University, where she received her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHC-A). Kristyn has clinical experience in a range of different settings and with varied populations, including a treatment center for youth with autism, an inpatient facility for adults, outpatient community mental health, and an outpatient facility working closely with the juvenile justice system. She integrates techniques and approaches primarily drawing from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Existential Therapy, Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She often utilizes strength-based and mindfulness approaches.
Kristyn believes a strong therapeutic relationship, coupled with a compassionate and supportive environment, is key to facilitating self-awareness and growth toward a more fulfilling life. Kristyn says, “All people have the ability to become the best versions of themselves, but sometimes life gets in the way. Therapy is the journey back to finding you again.”
