She attended the University of Iowa for her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Alyssa has experience working in community mental health with children and adolescents, as well as in a college counseling center with young adults, and has experience leading group and individual sessions. She utilizes multiple approaches to therapy, but her focus is emotion-focused. Her areas of focus include, but are not limited to, self-esteem, relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life adjustments. She enjoys working with a variety of ages.

Alyssa believes counseling can be helpful to everyone at some point in their life. She aims to provide the best care possible and a non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable enough to open up to her and trust her with whatever they are going through. She enjoys using creativity during sessions and believes her clients are the ones in charge during sessions.
