Dr. Brown has over 20 years of experience as a psychologist. Her primary specialty is Family and Systems Therapy. This means that even when she meets with a client individually, she also considers the people, groups, and systems they are connected with—families, friends, organizations, culture, religion, and pets—in order to be helpful to them.
Dr. Brown has provided psychotherapy at a Community Mental Health Center and in private practice. She has taught as an adjunct professor and has been the Clinical Training Director for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Valparaiso University. She currently serves as the undergraduate Psychology Internship Director and instructor at Valparaiso University. She volunteers with the American Red Cross and the Indiana FSSA to provide disaster mental health services to people affected by local and national disasters. She also serves on the Northwest Indiana Critical Incident Stress Management team.
"Throughout my career, I have sought the best way to combine a solid education in psychology with my own personal Christianity... while being open to discussing a client's spirituality when that is appropriate or helpful to them."
Dr. Brown provides psychological evaluation and screening on a limited basis.
