Foundations in Substance Use Counseling

    • Facilitated By: Jason Kniola, LMHC, LCAC, NCC and Kaitlin Pilipovic, MS, LCAC
    • Description: This course provides a comprehensive overview of addiction and recovery through an evidence-based and person-centered lens. Participants will learn how the DSM-5 defines addiction and explore the 12 criteria for Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). The class emphasizes reducing stigma by developing recovery-oriented language, recognizing denial and relapse warning signs, and addressing cravings with empathy and skill. Attendees will also learn about the critical role of structure, support systems, and recovery group resources in sustaining long-term recovery.

The Doubting Disorder: Rewiring the OCD Loop

    • Facilitated By: Jessi Kiefor, MA, LMHC, NCC and Jennifer Buford, LMFT
    • Description: This course provides a practical overview of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), including DSM-5 criteria, neurobiological foundations, and evidence-based treatment. Participants will learn core principles of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), integration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strategies to adapt interventions for youth while maintaining validation without reinforcing symptoms.

Introduction to Acceptance Commitment Therapy

    • Facilitated By: Lisa Walter, MA, LMHC, NCC
    • Description: This course introduces Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), its core principles, and the “4 Happiness Myths” that shape its approach. Participants will learn how to apply ACT techniques in clinical practice and identify client populations and presenting concerns best suited for this evidence-based modality.

Suicide Risk Assessment Training

    • Facilitated By: Ashley Earle, LMHC and Dr. Ashley Michalski, Psy.D., HSPP, LCSC
    • Description: This training provides clinicians with practical tools and confidence to navigate suicide risk assessment and intervention. Participants will deepen their understanding of risk factors, warning signs, and appropriate clinical responses to suicidal ideation while strengthening their ability to ensure client safety and well-being through informed, compassionate care.

The Power of Presence: Reclaiming Peace in Chaotic Times

  • Facilitated By: Jason Kniola, LMHC, LCAC, NCC and Kelly Johnson, LMHC
  • Description: This training explores the impact of modern information overload on mental, emotional, and physical well-being for both clinicians and clients. Participants will learn and practice mindfulness-based techniques and breath-based strategies to cultivate present-moment awareness and manage stress, anxiety, and overwhelm in an increasingly connected world.

Navigating the Landscape of Grief

  • Facilitated By: Jason Kniola, LMHC, LCAC, NCC and Patti Shaffner, Grief Educator, Peer to Peer Grief Ritual Trained – Francis Weller, PhD, Artist, Singer-Songwriter
  • Description: This training equips clinicians with essential knowledge to support clients experiencing grief, covering common myths, cultural influences, and the connection between grief and mental health. Participants will learn to recognize behavioral expressions of grief and gain practical tools and approaches for compassionate client support, while also implementing self-care strategies to maintain their own well-being.
  • 4 CE Hours

Approved for licensure renewal by the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board. If you’re licensed outside Indiana, please verify with your licensing board.
